Grizzled Bighorn ram, Joshua Tree National Park.
I photographed this Bighorn ram in Joshua Tree National Park in September, 2021. I followed a large group of Bighorns to Barker Dam not long past sunrise. There was no standing water in the dam, but the area had plenty of lush green grass for the sheep to graze. The ram had lost one of his horns, presumably in a clash with another ram. As it is made of bone, the horn will not grow back. But this ram nevertheless held sway over a group of about ten sheep.
