Lazuli Bunting in burn area, Angeles National Forest.
This photo was taken July, 2022, in an area of the Angeles National Forest burned by the Bobcat Fire, 2020. The land closest to the stream was thick with flowers and bushes, as the burned canopy allowed light to penetrate, while water from the stream promoted growth. Lazuli Buntings thrive in these post-burn stream-side thickets; this male was perched above the stream in a burned tree.
